The Aviaton company plans to create its own passenger drone. It will take off vertically, but will be able to move long distances like an airplane. The developers emphasize that the drone, dubbed "SerVert SV5B", is created for use outside airfields. The machine will be able to take off from sites less than 30 m in diameter. The head of the AeroNet group, which supports the development of the drone, believes that the project is very promising, as it can facilitate the transportation of passengers in the absence of an airfield infrastructure. It will be controlled by a special program and an operator from the ground.
The aircraft itself has already been nicknamed the “flying taxi,” since SerVert SV5B will be able to easily, quickly and very cheaply carry passengers. Aviaton’s general director Avtandil Khachapuridze said that about 1.5 billion rubles would be needed to create the first taxi, of which AeroNet is ready to allocate 70%. Serial production will be much cheaper, the developers plan to spend on one copy no more than a million dollars.
