Hyundai continues to work on exoskeletons

Hyundai продолжает работу над экзоскелетами

A well-known car manufacturer continues to work on creating an exoskeleton. Previously, the company has already introduced the first prototype, which is a back-supporting module and two robotic legs.

Last week, the company showed a revised version. It has undergone significant changes: the exosuit covers most of the operator’s body, still allowing it to carry heavy loads, and is supposed to be able to help people who are unable to move independently to get back on their feet. Nevertheless, clumsiness and cumbersomeness continue to be the main disadvantages that the audience noted during the exoskeleton. Questions were raised and not very convenient claws, which are equipped with his hands. Despite this, the device honorably fulfilled its duties, allowing the operator to carry heavy loads several times greater than his weight.

The device is called H-LEX and, as developers say, is able to help the user carry a load of up to 50 kilograms on his back, while lifting his hands with a weight of hundreds of kilograms.

Most of the electronics are located at the rear of the device, and its legs and arms are also far from perfect, so using such a device in everyday life is still quite problematic. Therefore, developers continue to work, constantly improving the exoskeleton. The company is also in no hurry to announce the approximate cost and date of the appearance of H-Lex on sale. Let's wait for more advanced prototypes close to reality. And, perhaps, in a couple of years we will go for a drive!
