Hyperloop One's first manufacturing plant opened north of Las Vegas in the Nevada desert. The company was named Hyperloop One Metalworks and brought together under its roof 170 specialists from various fields: engineers, machine operators, welders, and representatives of many other specialties that can be useful in building an amazing railway.
The plant covers an area of 105,000 square feet (about 10,000 square meters) and is currently producing parts for the Hyperloop test section, which is being built in the same Nevada. The first tests of the ambitious idea of Elon Musk are scheduled for 2017. We remind you that this high-speed railway project involves the movement of trains at a speed of from 480 to 1220 kilometers per hour inside the elevated pipeline, in which forevacuum is supported.
The new plant of Hyperloop One should speed up the construction of a test segment of the futuristic railway, so that the planned field trials take place on time. Two companies are independently engaged in the project implementation at once. Elon Musk himself openly declared that he did not intend to implement his idea, so two teams of enthusiasts took up the matter. The first is Hyperloop Transportation Technologies under the leadership of JumpStartFund co-founder Dirk Alborn and SpaceX President Gwynn Shotwell.
