"Drawing" for virtual reality glasses came out on Kickstarter

The guys from London's Royal College of Art invented the Gravity Sketch for quite some time - the first prototype of a drawing tool in virtual reality was a kind of graphic tablet, combined with a special device on the Arduino, and was presented in the spring of 2014. Now students have revised the concept of the Gravity Sketch, focused on the software and launched on Kickstarter fundraising campaign required for the implementation of ideas.

Oluvasey Sosanya, one of the engineers who was at the very beginning of development, and now the incumbent startup manager, spoke about the principle of the Gravity Sketch: “Thanks to VR glasses, everything you see in front of you literally becomes a canvas or a drawing pad - you can sketch machine life-size, and then with the movements of the hands to reduce it to the size of the paper sheet. We want to create a three-dimensional modeling language that will allow the user to make any changes to the outline with the help of touches and movements, without resorting to different commands and drop-down windows. The idea of the program is to give designers and artists the opportunity to create in three dimensions. ”

Sosanya explained that many designers make a strong sketch, but when it is transferred to 3D, the result is not exactly the same as it was originally intended.

The application will allow the user to instantly transfer his sketch to the programs of graphic design, three-dimensional modeling, or immediately render a sketch on a 3D printer. The program is designed for PC and will require the owner to have one of the two virtual reality headsets - Oculus Rift or HTC Vive with controllers. Price Gravity Sketch - just $ 60, and for those who skins on the development through Kickstarter, make a 50 percent discount. The output of the application is scheduled for January 2017.
