Electronics has created a laser lighting system

Engineers holding "Ruselectronics" created a new lighting system, which is based on the use of laser radiation. These lights can operate in aggressive environments like nuclear power plants and even under water. The radiation passes to them through the optical fiber, which eliminates the risk of a fire or explosion due to the occurrence of a spark.

The newly created lighting system is based on blue diode lasers emitting light in the wavelength range of 440-470 nm. A distinctive feature of these "blue LEDs" is the presence of the resonator. Because of this, they can emit light in other wavelength ranges: such lighting devices are highly efficient and extremely economical. In addition, they have high light output - up to 100 lm / W. For example, the light output of a 100 watt incandescent lamp is 13.8 lm / W.

The use of fiber provides electrical safety and fire safety in any lighting devices. They are resistant to climatic, corrosive, mechanical, electromagnetic and radiation effects, as well as in chemical production, where it is extremely unsafe to illuminate an object otherwise.

Lighting products based on diode lasers can be successfully used for internal and external lighting of residential premises and infrastructure hazardous production facilities, for example, chemical plants, nuclear power plants and mines. The new project of lighting devices was presented by the Roselectronika holding within the international exhibition “Photonics-2017”, which was held at the Expocenter from February 28 to March 3.
