Chinese underwater glider set a new world record for diving depth

Underwater glider "Haii", developed by experts of the Shenyang Institute of Automation, the ANK, set a new world record for the depth of immersion, descending into the Mariana Trench to a depth of 6329 meters.

During a series of studies, the apparatus was submerged twelve times. The works lasted four days, during which the glider sailed more than 130 kilometers, spending a total of 87 hours under water.

Hayi glider showed itself well in difficult conditions and continued to follow the course, even despite poor visibility and problems with signal transmission. Performing its main tasks, the underwater vehicle produced continuous data exchange and continued diving.

During the four-day "swim" glider was fully tested and run-in, but received a few serious comments that developers have to eliminate. Nevertheless, he still set the record. The previous owner of the record for the depth of immersion in the Mariana Trench is an American device, which descended into it for 6000 kilometers.
