The modern world is increasingly difficult to imagine without cloud technology. They are getting closer into our lives and extend to all spheres of human activity. The other day in Irkutsk a serious step was made in the development of this industry in Russia.
On May 25, the fourth session “Energy of the Future” was held in Irkutsk, on the territory of the Technopark of IrNITU, to which representatives of the editors of Hi-News.ru were invited. The session was held as part of a joint educational project of the EN + Group and the corporate university Eurosibenergo.
The date of the session was not chosen by chance. Its conduct was timed to the opening of a data processing center on the territory of the Novo-Irkutsk CHP. The new data processing center should be the first in a whole network of such centers, which EN + is developing in the territory of the Irkutsk region.
The session itself was held in the format of guest speakers. Businessmen, experts in the field of computer technology, various experts and representatives of Huawei, with whom we are actively cooperating in working on the “Clouds of Siberia” project, spoke about the Internet of things, cloud technologies and computer threats in the modern world.
The session was moderated by Ilya Kabanov, who is known as the chief editor of popular science almanac metkere.com and organizer of educational events for entrepreneurs, politicians, journalists, bloggers and other target audiences.
After the greeting of the participants and the general photo, the session itself began. First, Yevgeny Masternak, Director General of VostSibUgol, spoke with a parting speech. He spoke about how cloud technologies come into the business world. Despite the fact that the coal industry is very conservative, the speaker gave an example of how the mining equipment is automated and how it minimizes losses and downtime. At the same time, as he noted, a significant jump occurred not in decades, but literally in five years. In conclusion of his speech, Yevgeny Masternak voiced not a new, but a true idea. He said that if a manager does not know his IT specialists, then they are good specialists, because they are like doctors to whom you go only when something is bad. And the decrease in the number of calls to similar experts indicates an increase in the quality and reliability of cloud services.
Other interesting speeches include a brief excursion into the world of hackers from Anton Petrushkin, EN + Group analyst, and an analysis of the prospects for digitalization of business from Alexey Minin, director of the Institute for Applied Data Analysis at Deloitte & Touche CIS.
Anton Petrushkin, including the developer of oil trading applications, as a true expert in the field of information technologies, spoke about the threats of cloud technologies from the point of view of data security, but noted that protection technologies are also not standing still, which minimizes the risks of loss and interception of information. Also during his speech, he spoke in simple language about how data is intercepted when connected via Wi-Fi and how you can protect against this.
Toward the end of the session, Alexey Minin spoke about how the overall digitalization of business allows us to open new horizons and significantly improve the search for customers. It's no secret that in business one of the most important resources is information. First of all, information about their clients, on which the main activity is oriented. Including in understanding of clients cloud technologies play an important role. Alexey also cited examples of companies that at one time did not pay attention to studying the market and the needs of their target audience. One such example was Kodak, which was one of the leaders among manufacturers of products for amateur photographers. But at one time her leadership did not take seriously the emerging technology of digital photography and did not significantly change the business model. What positions Kodak currently occupies - we all know.
In addition to speeches by guest speakers and a video message by Evgeny Chereshnev, CEO of Biolink Technologies, who is known for implanting a biochip under the skin of his left hand to study the privacy issues of people in the Internet of Things, the guests were given the floor, sometimes even personal. After the session, the speakers selected the best questions and rewarded their authors with an excursion to a new data center. The invitations themselves were very creative, and those who remember what a 5.25-inch floppy disk is, appreciated. It was in the form of this media that invitations were made.
Nevertheless, despite the interesting digressions, the main theme of the session was still the development of cloud technologies in the Irkutsk region. In addition, at the end of the session, her guests could talk a little more with the speakers and ask them interesting questions. It should be noted that among those who wanted to ask questions were not only professional journalists and invited bloggers, but also students, who, despite the height of tests and exams, were many.
It is nice that such events are held for the younger generation. It does not matter what is his goal in the future. These may be different areas of business, science or production. And it can also be just consumer use of modern technologies, but it’s hard to argue that the future lies with cloud technologies, instant access to information and prompt processing of this information.
