Central Bank of the Russian Federation offered to deliver cash by drones

In modern regulations of the Central Bank of Russia, cash delivery using unmanned aerial vehicles is not spelled out and is not regulated at all, but things may change soon. On the Central Bank’s website on Monday, a draft regulation appeared providing for the delivery of cash using drones, reports Vedomosti.

Earlier, representatives of Sberbank reported that the use of drones was considered as an alternative method of delivering bank cards, but after testing and studying all the prospects for the introduction of drones, experts concluded that using them for these purposes is not appropriate. However, last Friday, representatives of Sberbank announced that the bank is likely to start testing aircraft again, which it plans to use in the near future to deliver valuables and cash to its branches.

The draft says that when transporting and collecting cash, a number of rules must be observed: vehicles must be equipped to transport money and valuables, and the car must be escorted by specially trained personnel who have service weapons with them, but when transporting money using “Special devices” Requirements are optional if the contents of containers are painted with a special composition during unauthorized opening.

“We do not exclude that in about a month in Kazan we will be piloting such drones,” said Stanislav Kuznetsov, deputy chairman of the bank.

The discussion of the project will last about two weeks - during this time it is planned to take into account all the nuances and prepare a final version of the situation.
