Android creator patented augmented reality glasses

Andy Rubin, one of the creators of the Android operating system, left Google at the end of 2014 and founded his own company. He recently introduced his own smartphone Essential to the public, and now also filed a patent for augmented reality headset under the same name.

The glasses will have their own processor for processing and displaying information on the lenses before the user's eyes. The device is planned to be equipped with cameras for taking photos and videos. It is assumed that the headset can be equipped with different types of lenses.

Information about whether Rubin is going to release an augmented reality device, while there is no any. But since he patented such a device, it can be assumed that the final decision on the start of production will depend on the success of his smartphone on the market.

Augmented reality devices are not yet widespread. The Google Glass project was turned off, and the Microsoft HoloLens headset, although it is for sale, is very expensive, so for the time being only the poorest software developers can afford it. There are several other little-known projects, but all of them are currently under development.
