Not only large foreign concerns, but also Russian manufacturers are beginning to think about the release of electric cars. KamAZ is testing the electric buses and charging stations with might and main, KRET concern has already established production of its own fast charging stations, and VolgaBus has created unmanned shuttles on electric motors. Last year, a test sample of an electric Lada Vesta was also shown, and now it was the turn of the Russian GAZ Group, which showed electric gazelle at the opening of Comtrans 2017.
The car “Gazelle Next” is equipped with an electric drive with a power of 90 kW (122 hp), thanks to which the power reserve of the new car is about 120 kilometers on one charge. Its batteries can be charged from a network with a voltage of 220 and 380 volts. It takes about three hours for a car to fully charge its batteries, evmode reports.
As in the previous demonstration versions of electric Gazelles, in the “Gazelle Next” almost all of the electric filling is imported. On the cars of this brand in the past, installed engines from the American electric Dodge EV, released in 2009, later used integrated solutions from other manufacturers. In particular, the batteries of the American company EnerDel were used. Nevertheless, the components purchased for the creation of an electric “Gazelle Next” by the end of the year are planning to start replacing them with Russian counterparts. GAZ, together with its partners, plans to begin developing its own batteries by the end of 2017. But it is not specified yet, from whose basic batteries they will be collected. There is a chance that after all from import.
Representatives of the company noted that the characteristics of electric cars of this brand significantly improve the characteristics of cars, and in the future the electric power plant can be used for mass production of “Gazelle Next”, but refused to call specific dates.
