In India, the sales of the most budget electric vehicle in the world began

Indian company Tata Motors has created in 2009 Nano - the cheap and practical car which, however, has not justified expectations. Now Tata Motos is going to try to conquer the market a second time, putting on Nano electric drive and making it the cheapest electric vehicle in the world.

The development and production of auto Tata Motors will be handled jointly with another Indian company - Jayem Automotives. It is planned to supply inexpensive cars to taxi fleets, among which there are a large number of Uber partners. One of the largest - Ola, has already concluded a contract for the supply of a large batch of machines.

The body of the new Nano EV will be assembled at Tata Motors plants, and Jayem Automotives will be responsible for the filling, in factories in which the machines will install the electric drive and virtually all other key nodes. The drive itself, by the way, was developed by Electra EV.

The first batch of cars will come off the assembly line in late November 2017 - the government of India has placed an order for the delivery of 350 cars before the end of the year in the spring. The next batch of 400 cars was ordered by the carrier Ola - this order is going to be completed by the end of this year.

The decision to convert Nano into an electric car is due to the fact that over the past eight years the company has not been able to get close to the expected sales - it was planned to sell at least a million Nano per year, but by the end of 2016 for the entire period of the company's work it was difficult to sell 300,000 cars . To increase interest in the car, we decided to re-equip the Nano with electric drives.

On one charge the machine can travel more than 200 kilometers. Other parameters, as well as prices, the developers have not yet reported. Apparently, not to "disclose the trump card" in front of competitors from Mahindra & Mahindra, who also recently announced the start of production of electric vehicles.
