Ilon Mask completes construction of the world's largest battery in 100 days

You surely remember the story of how the famous inventor and, no doubt, the talented entrepreneur Ilon Mask won a tender for the construction in Australia of the world's largest lithium-ion battery Tesla Powerpack. In this case, Mask personally voiced among other conditions that if he can not complete the construction of this battery for 100 days, then Tesla will take full costs for construction on itself. Well, you need to give the Mask proper: he kept his word and managed for 100 days.

The main purpose of building such an energy storage was the need for one of the regions of Australia to provide electricity. It was necessary to build a battery for 100 megawatt-hours, and it was desirable to complete the project before the beginning of December, so that the company Mask did not incur undesirable losses. This battery was supposed to be recharged from a renewable energy source - the Australian park of Hornsdale wind farms. As Mask promised, he organized the construction in such a way that he met the deadlines and helped the Australian government solve some of its energy problems.

Full-scale tests of a giant energy storage facility should begin the other day. During the tests, Australian specialists should understand whether the world's largest battery meets local requirements and legislation, whether the personnel are at risk and whether the state and the environment are not threatened. The full-scale work of Tesla Powerpack is scheduled for December 1, 2017. For Australia, the uninterrupted operation of this electric storage facility is extremely important, because last September, part of the country remained virtually without light, after which the government seriously decided to reconsider its views on energy. The cost of a giant battery is about 50 million dollars.
