January of the new year. And this means that very soon the next annual International Consumer Electronics Show is waiting for us, at which many companies will show their novelties. According to reports, about 4,000 manufacturers will be ready to share their products and achievements with more than 170,000 participants from 150 countries. The exhibition will open its doors on January 9, but even before the official part of us, there are likely to be several interesting announcements, which we will try to inform you as much as possible. So, what will they show us on CES-2018? Let's understand.
Smart home systems
One of the main trends of last year's exhibition were systems for the "smart" home. And the three main pillars of these systems, which allow you to combine all the electronics in your home into a single network and even manage it in a voice, are Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Siri in the person of Apple HomeKit. Most likely, this year the trend for such systems and novelties based on them will continue, and we will see a lot of devices ready to turn our boring houses into something more futuristic.
Virtual, augmented and mixed reality
Another big trend of this time are the systems VR, AR and MR - virtual, augmented and mixed reality. Last year was full of announcements and rumors related to these systems, which indicates that these technologies continue to develop and are not going to stop there. So where is the best way to demonstrate all these achievements, if not at the CES? We are sure that this year, the above technologies and products based on them will display a huge amount of space at CES-2018, which will start in a few days.
Wearable electronics
Last year for such equipment was clearly not the most successful. Technologies attracted much attention at the start, but within a year interest in them gradually faded. Wearing electronics has become something ordinary. Nevertheless, in the market there are such giants as Fitbit, continuing to prove to the world that portable electronics is a very important, useful and necessary part of our life. Maybe millions of "identical" bracelets and watches and no longer cause a wow effect, "smart" clothing, which just started to appear, can give us this forgotten feeling of novelty. Of course, CES-2018 will have something to look at from this segment.
Electric cars and robots
Do not bypass the CES and car concerns. According to the latest information, Fisker plans to introduce its new EMotion electric car. According to rumors, the novelty will cost insane $ 129,000. The car will compete for the title of the best with the Tesla itself, because its power reserve from one charge will be 650 kilometers. Also, you should expect to see products from Toyota, Ford and Hyundai.
There will be several new products in terms of equipping cars with electronics. Manufacturers will show new instrument panels with augmented reality.
According to experts, one of the main trends in 2018 will be artificial intelligence. It will be applied in all possible spheres. One of the confirmations to this is Honda's plans for CES-2018. The Japanese giant will bring several robots to the exhibition on the basis of experimental technologies that will help people and can even empathize with them.
Smartphones
Of course, no CES exhibition is complete without the participation of almost all major smartphone manufacturers. However, according to insider information, it is not worth waiting for major announcements at this exhibition. Traditionally, all the major big announcements in the sphere of smartphone building are taking place in February, at the MWC exhibition, which takes place in Barcelona. Nevertheless, at CES-2018, we will certainly show a few novelties. We are waiting for several devices from Samsung, LG and Sony.

LG
LG will be pleased with a lot of new TVs. The eighth generation of LG OLED TV will be presented, as well as a new 88-inch 8K-TV. It is expected to update the slimmest TV in the world LG Wallpaper TV. The name of the device is chosen not by chance. Due to its thickness, it really looks more like wallpaper than on TV. As for smartphones, then perhaps we will be shown budget models K10 and Stylus 3. It's not worth waiting for the new G7 flagship. According to available information, it was saved for the MWC 2018 exhibition. In addition, the company will show the next generation of Gram notebooks, Blu Ray 4K players and a lot of smart home appliances.
Samsung
Judging by rumors and insider information, Samsung may become the main newsmaker of January. First of all, Samsung can show the mysterious Galaxy X - the first bent smartphone. The technology of the bending display was presented by the company at CES-2013, however, all subsequent innovations of the South Korean giant with curved screens could be called only timid attempts to show the true potential of this technology. At the current CES, we can finally wait for a truly flexible smartphone.
The company announced the desire to release such a novelty last year. Rumors about the device have been going for a long time, but guessing at the coffee grounds is a thankless task. Will only wait for the beginning of the exhibition and check. It is possible that under this announcement the company will allocate a special event, as it usually does with the new flagship of the Galaxy line.
The flagship line Galaxy S9 and S9 +, most likely, will have to wait until February. Different sources can not yet come to a common opinion: some say that the flagships will be shown on CES-2018, others - that the devices will have to wait almost until spring. However, right now you can confidently say that the new smartphone Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018), as well as the whole updated Galaxy A lineup, will be shown once again on the exhibition (already on sale). We expect updates of the A3, A5 and A7 models .

According to some sources, Sony can show on CES a couple of new devices made in a new design. According to rumors, one of the devices will receive a 5.7-inch screen with 4K-resolution, a new processor Snapdragon 845, a dual camera, 6 GB of RAM and the latest version of the operating system - Android Oreo. The second smartphone will relate to the middle price segment and will offer characteristics simpler. Both novelties will be frameless (which, by the way, is also a trend of the last time). It should be noted that Sony is one of the few companies that nevertheless spends part of the releases of its smartphone lines on CES, so we can expect the appearance of a new flagship on it. Also, we should wait for new 4K projectors with a more affordable price tag than before.
Nokia
At the last CES, the revived Nokia introduced the Nokia 6 smartphone, this time we will be shown its updated version with a frameless screen and top-end iron. Despite the fact that Nokia is scheduled for a special event on January 19, at CES the company can present the flagships of Nokia 9 and 8 (2018). Last year, the company bought a developer of "smart" health gadgets, Withings, with which it wants to strengthen its position in the Internet of things. Therefore, it is quite possible that in this segment we will also be able to hear something new from it.
Intel and AMD
Last November, we reported that the two main processor competitors, Intel and AMD, had teamed up to create a completely new processor. It will consist of three chips, combined on a single substrate, - Intel Core CPU, Radeon Vega M GPU and high-speed video memory HBM2. Such processors will significantly reduce the size of gaming laptops. It is expected that the companies will tell the details of the technology, as well as the date these processors appear in the final product. Who knows, maybe the first laptops with this processor will show us at CES.
Qualcomm
Last December, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 845 processor, which does a great job with Windows 10S, so expect a lot of new laptops from different manufacturers on this processor.
