Panasonic introduced a unique exoskeleton

Exoskeletons have long ceased to be a lot of fantastic films and video games, and many companies are already developing a variety of models of such devices. But if most of the developments are used in the military sphere or for training athletes, the new brainchild of Panasonic is designed to help ordinary people.

This is an exoskeleton called ATOUN Model Y. An innovative model will help in the care of elderly people, people with disabilities, as well as workers in professions that are associated with lifting heavy loads (for example, loaders or builders). At the heart of the exoskeleton from Panasoni are ultralight polymers, and not metal, as in most similar developments. The total weight of the exoskeleton is 4.5 kilograms (which is 40% less than the previous model), and this was achieved not only due to the materials of the body, but also due to the reduced battery and the lightweight design of the motor units.

The exoskeleton ATOUN Model Y is attached to the waist of the user and supports the waist at the time of lifting weights, and many locating sensors track movements in space. Thanks to a special algorithm, the exoskeleton "guesses" the actions of a person, which makes it possible for the suit's engines to duplicate the movements of the user, relieving the load on the muscles.

The official release of new items in retail sales is expected in the spring of 2018, and Panasonis already takes pre-orders for a new exoskeleton.
