It would seem, why improve car seats when they already do an excellent job with the tasks assigned to them? But BeBop Sensors engineers strongly disagree with the current state of things. That is why in their laboratories they developed a system thanks to which a car seat can determine with high accuracy: whether an adult is sitting on it, a child or just there is a package with purchases from the supermarket.
Employees at BeBop Sensors believe that the current car seats are pretty dumb. To make them smarter, the OCS (Occupant Classification System) was developed, which is a cover just 1 millimeter thick, literally woven from hundreds of different sensors. Thanks to this system, the seat will know exactly the size of the passenger, his weight, and will also be able to track any movement on the surface of the cover. The sensor will immediately understand if you put a baby car seat or bag on it, since the object will be static.
At the time of the accident, thanks to the OCS system, the car computer will be able to accurately position the airbag according to the size, weight and position of the passenger, which will increase the safety of driving in vehicles. At the moment, BeBop Sensors is actively negotiating with major car manufacturers, discussing the most interesting ways to apply its invention.
