The artificial intelligence platform, which previously predicted Oscar winners and Super Bowl winners, has now hit the jackpot at the Kentucky Derby races. The integrated UNU system, including humans and artificial intelligence, was able to pre-name the horses that took first, second, third and fourth places in Derby with a chance of 540 to 1. Thus, the creator of the system Lewis Rosenberg (Louis Rosnberg) earned 10 842 dollars at the initial rate at $ 20.
The UNU system is a special form of artificial intelligence - the so-called swarm intelligence. The task of the UNU is not to replace a person, but to strengthen his cognitive capabilities. UNU works as follows. First, a group of people enters the system using smartphones or PCs. Next, all participants in the system are asked a question and suggested answers. Each user receives a virtual magnet, which he can move around the screen, attracting the puck to a particular answer. As a result, the puck can stop at only one answer. The group of participants is given only 60 seconds to make a collective decision that suits everyone.
The collective intelligence of the bee swarm, which the insects use when choosing a place for the hive, was taken as the UNU prototype. The UNU algorithm seeks to use the knowledge and intuition of people in a group to work out a single solution. Unlike a survey that divides people into subgroups based on their opinions, the UNU is looking for a compromise solution.
At the beginning of the year, UNU capabilities were demonstrated to Newsweek by predicting the Oscars. Then the system was able to predict 11 out of 15 winners, being more precisely professional film critics and bookmakers.
In the future, Rosenberg intends to expand the scope of the system beyond gambling and entertainment - the UNU should find application in healthcare and politics. For example, on the basis of the system, consultations of doctors can be held or managerial decisions can be made on a national scale.
“Politicians have opposing values, but improving people's lives remains a major concern. Joining UNU experts with different perspectives makes it possible to find a compromise. Our goal is to provide society with a platform for the collective solution of difficult issues, ”said Rosenberg.
