The French company Lehmann Aviation, specializing in the development of UAVs, presented the world's first line of drones, based on a modular structure. Previously, the French manufacturer has repeatedly announced high-quality UAVs for professional photo and video, as well as cartography. The new models will absorb all the best from their predecessors, but will have a number of tangible advantages in comparison with them.
Modular drones are designed in such a way that most of their functions can be replaced with alternative ones. You do not need the autopilot - removed the block associated with it and replaced it with another one. You do not need a camera - remove the mount for it and stick there any other device. The wings of the drone partially unscrew, which makes it much more convenient to transport. The body is made of aluminum, carbon fiber and EPP-foam. The drone is able to fly within a radius of 25 kilometers from the operator for 45 minutes at full charge. All this time he is transmitting data over a wireless protocol.
Model LA500-AG is sharpened for cartography and its use in agriculture, as evidenced by the presence of a sensor to monitor crop growth. And the LA500-RTK is equipped with a Sony α6000 24.3-megapixel camera with an APS-C sensor. The wingspan of the drones is 116 centimeters, and the weight of the structure (not including the rigging) does not exceed 1.25 kilograms. In motion, the drone is driven by a single electric motor, and such drones will have to be launched by hand. The maximum airspeed at the same time will be 80 kilometers per hour. Despite the fact that the new line is resistant to low and high temperatures, the developers immediately warned: in the rain and snowfall, their drones should not fly.
You can control drones with the help of official software running on Windows 10 compatible tablets and smartphones. As for the price of modular drones, it starts at $ 3,490 (euros, if you live in European countries) for the base model. For comparison: a model with a professional camera will cost you $ 5890, and an agricultural drone will cost $ 7990. Sales of new drones will begin in the fourth quarter of this year.
