US military conducted joint drone and robots exercises

The US Army continues to develop and introduce new technologies that can help wage warfare in the future, minimizing the loss of personnel. Scientists and engineers working for the American defense industry are making a big bet on robots and military drones. They were tested during joint exercises initiated by the command of the military base of Fort Benning, located in the state of Georgia.

Humvee robotic SUVs were tested, which, in the company of armored personnel carriers and air drones, worked out the orientation and deployment on the ground, creating smoke screens for the tanks, masking them before they engaged in a battle with a conditional enemy.

The maneuverable robotic and automated system was tested for the first time on such a scale, and field conditions made it possible to study its strengths and weaknesses. The program, designed for the unification and collaboration of land combat automated machines and unmanned aerial vehicles, has existed for more than three years, and the demonstration of the capabilities of autonomous systems has become the first among many others planned by the command in the future.

According to the organizers, the project is planned to implement a number of ideas aimed at improving the quality of combat operations. In addition, the use of unmanned lethal apparatus and robots will also increase the range and duration of hostilities, since most automated devices do not require the help of operators and maintenance personnel.
