Aerospace Company Vector reached an agreement with the leadership of NASA and got the go-ahead for three commercial launches of its missiles. All three starts are planned to be made from the NASA cosmodrome located in the state of Virginia, - informs CNBC.
Vector Executive Director Jim Cantrell said that the first launch was scheduled for July 2018. Under the terms of the contract concluded between Vector and its first customers, in case of a successful first launch, the contract will be extended for another five starts.
As we already wrote earlier, Vector-R is a small and inexpensive rocket intended for microsatellite launches. The cost of one launch of it is only about three million dollars, and due to the mobility of the Vector-R, special launch sites are not required for launch. Just a small and flat concrete platform on which you can place the launcher. The weight of the rocket is about five tons.
Now the company has four clients with whom almost all the formalities have already been settled. In addition, the company is now engaged in building its own factory in Arizona - this will allow over time to increase the number of rocket launches to one hundred per year.
