Hurricane "Irma" has covered the American state of Florida. Earlier it was declared evacuation, but not all were able to leave the disaster zone in time. Among them was one of the owners of the car Tesla, who turned to the company and said that he could not get to the evacuation zone. After this appeal, Tesla released a temporary patch that removed the battery lock restriction - this allowed Tesla Model X60D and Model S60 cars to drive 60 kilometers more on a single charge.
The driver, who applied to Tesla, said that he could not get to the safe zone and got up 60 kilometers away. According to the owner of the car, he could not get there on one battery charge. Tesla responded very quickly to the call and released a temporary software patch, removing the twenty percent blocking of battery power. This made it possible to increase the distance of trips on all basic models of Tesla. Temporary update works on all machines of the company in the disaster area.
Thanks to the patch, the owners of the Model X60D and Model S60 will be able to use the entire amount of batteries until September 16, after which the capacity of the batteries will again be limited, returning it to the factory values.
